Rochas Okorocha and family in EFCC net

there is an uncomfirmed report reaching us that the economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) has arrested the immediate past governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha.

The reports which emanated from Daily Trust and Sahara Reporters states that the EFCC in the raid also arrested his wife Nkechi Okorocha, some of the family members of the former Imo state governor, Gerald Okorocha, Okey Okorocha and then sealed off his Eastern Palm University in Ogboko, Imo state.
However, an official statement has not been released by the EFCC regarding the report of the arrest of the former governor.

The EFCC has meanwhile giving more details into its probe of the Imo state government .

It had been reported that the anti-graft body said it froze N5 billion funds belonging to the state government because Governor Rochas Okorocha was spending too much money during the 2019 general elections probably for vote buying and other mal- practices.

The EFCC also revealed that the N8 billion Paris Club loan refunded to the state for the payment of salaries was diverted and mismanaged by the former governor.

This statement was revealed by EFCC’s zonal head for south-east region, Usman Imam, during media chat with journalists.

According to him, it was timely intervention of the commission that saved the state over N5 billion that would have been deployed in vote buying by the Okorocha’s administration during the 2019 polls.

However, Okorocha had accused the EFCC of not providing information on how it arrived at the conclusion that he wanted to withdraw money for vote-buying during the last generalelection.

On Tuesday, May 21,Okorocha urged the acting chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, to keep fifth columnists within the agency at arm’s length.

Okorocha, through his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemedo,argued that despite EFCC’s blockage of Imo state funds to the tune of N7.9 billion, he did not owe salaries.
